WHO IS KELLER WILLIAMS?
(AND WHEN DID THEY TAKE OVER?!)
Established in 1983 in Austin, Texas, the organization had 32 operators who closed $28 million in volume. Keller Williams' first specialist, Gary Gentry, composed the primary offer – for $55,000. After a propitious beginning, the youthful organization would soon be hit with the loss of seven of its Top 10 agents to a contender and was battling in an extreme Texas economy.
Keller and his associates were so centered around helping operators succeed, that in 2002 they brought a group of elite agents together for a mastermind brainstorming session and brought up the issue, "What would it take to net a million dollars every single year?" The meeting to generate new ideas brought about models that would later fill in as the reason for Keller's first book, The Millionaire Real Estate Agent.
By 2006, Keller Williams was the fifth-largest real estate franchise in the United States. KW agents even found success during the Great Recession and by 2009, had moved past Prudential and RE/MAX to finish ranked #3. In 2011, Keller Williams outperformed Century 21 to take the #2 spot.
TAKING OVER THE INDUSTRY
(#1 AGENT COUNT, VOLUME, UNITS SOLD)
In 2013, the company was the top real estate franchise by agent count in North America, and in 2014, more associates called Keller Williams home than any other real estate franchise in the world. The gap has continued to grow exponentially as Keller Williams has attained greater levels of success year after year.
Maximizing profitability requires creating an environment where agents can build thriving businesses. To help them do so, Keller Williams is committed to delivering the best systems, training, marketing, and innovative technology solutions. When agents and teams succeed, they attract other talented professionals, which helps the company grow and improves each team member's overall success – and profit share.
"As more agents and teams have joined Keller Williams' ranks, the company has continued its climb to its current position as the U.S. leader in agent count, closed units, and closed sales volume. While this a milestone to be proud of, it is not the final destination for Keller Williams who is dedicated to continuing their domination over a rapidly changing real estate industry."
